Building material-UHPC

UHPC is a high-strength, high-toughness, and low-porosity cement-based material. Its basic formulation principle is to minimize defects (voids and microcracks) inside the material by increasing the fineness and activity of the components and not using coarse aggregates, in order to achieve ultra-high strength and durability. UHPC can be considered as a highly durable engineering material. UHPC with appropriate reinforcement has mechanical properties similar to steel structures, and it also has excellent wear resistance and blast resistance.

Product features

1. High Strength

The highest compressive strength of UHPC can reach 810 MPa. Because the level of technology varies from country to country, UHPC requires a minimum compressive strength of over 150 MPa and a shear strength of over 25 MPa. It has high thermal insulation, high waterproofing, fine texture, and can basically isolate all harmful media.

2. High Durability

Traditional concrete inevitably has many cracks. In conditions of high temperature or low temperature, continuous rain, or intense sunlight, the cracks will further enlarge, reducing the service life. However, UHPC itself has almost no cracks. Even if minor cracks occur due to external forces, UHPC has miraculous self-healing capabilities. UHPC was initially mainly used in bridge construction to reduce the self-weight of structures, improve their service life, and durability. The service life can reach over 100 years.

3.High Workability

Unlike traditional concrete, which is characterized by being “coarse, bulky, thick, and heavy,” UHPC relies on its strong physical properties to greatly lightweight structures, resulting in a strong visual aesthetic. Designers can fully realize imaginative designs with the help of its excellent performance. UHPC has a high density, high surface smoothness, and fine texture like jade, which not only enhances its visual appeal but also makes it less prone to contamination, making cleaning and maintenance easier.

Application area

UHPC has not been widely used in architectural design for a long time. In recent years, UHPC has been widely used in government projects, university buildings, museums, airports, commercial buildings, hotels, and high-rise residential buildings. It is also particularly suitable for large-span bridges, blast-resistant structures (military engineering, bank vaults, etc.), thin-wall structures, and in highly abrasive and corrosive environments. Currently, UHPC has been applied in some practical projects, such as large-span pedestrian bridges, highway and railway bridges, thin-wall silos, nuclear waste tanks, cable anchoring reinforcement plates, ATM machine protective shells, and more. It can be expected that there will be more and more applications in the future.
